Itinerary

Before looking at the actual 7 days of the tour I need to give you the heads up on getting to the tour start location and where you are located on the last night of the tour.As the tour is exclusively based in the West of Ireland it would make sense to fly directly into Shannon Airport.

However, flight scheduling may not always allow you to take a direct flight to Shannon so rest assured its not a big deal to fly into Dublin airport and take a train from Hueston station in Dublin to Colbert station in Limerick.

Tickets can only be purchased within 28 days of journey date. I'll give you more detailed information about this service well in advance of the 28 day moratorium. You can check out the train service schedule at www.irishrail.ie

The vast majority of our tour participants like to get to the start location (Bunratty) the day before the tour starts. To facilitate this I will be available to run transfers on the Friday before the tour starts from Shannon airport or Limerick train station. I can reserve your accommodation for the night of Friday in Bunratty. I'll set it up in such a way that you also spend the first night of the tour Saturday in the same accommodation thereby making your first day on the tour much more streamlined with a lot less packing and unpacking of luggage. Let me know if you would like to spend the pre tour night in the Courtyard guesthouse and I'll get it sorted.

At the end of the tour we spend our last night Friday in the center of Galway city (accommodation included). Built in 1852 the Meyrick Hotel represents the natural finishing point for the tour given the emphases we place on the historical interpretation of the regions encountered during the tour. Locating the tour in this hotel will mean you are within a short walk from the cultural heart of what many people consider the most charming city in Ireland. Well worth spending an extra day here if your itinerary allows. Galway is a transport hub with train station and both bus terminals within a short walk from the hotel. Its also just across the road from the Budget car rental agency.

If you need to schedule an early flight (anytime before 1PM) from Shannon on the Saturday morning after the tour I will arrange to get you closer to the airport on Friday evening. This eliminates a long transfer on Saturday morning. Don't worry you will still get to enjoy the farewell dinner before the transfer and you will have had access to the hotel spa facilities to shower and change on arrival in Galway.

The secure booking form on the web site doesn't process any payments. It merely collects your details and delivers them to me securely. I will make contact with you before processing any payments. In fact you don't have to even supply your credit card details if you prefer to pay via a direct bank account transfer. Many folks prefer this option. Either way no rush about money. I will hunt down arrival and departure information in a specific group email just over one month before your arrival date. This group email will have the list of participants who will be on the tour with you and more detailed information about train services.

You can look through our itinerary by clicking on the days below. The 7 day tour basically runs from Saturday to Friday.

At this point I think it might be helpful to outline the transfers we provide pre and post tour. As the tour is exclusively based in the West of Ireland it would make sense to fly directly to Shannon Airport.

However, flight scheduling may not always allow you to take a direct flight to Shannon Airport so rest assured its not a big deal to fly into Dublin airport and take a train to Limerick. If you fly into Dublin airport, take the train from Hueston station in Dublin to Colbert station in Limerick.
To reserve tickets online go to http://www.irishrail.ie/
Tickets reserved online work out much cheaper than purchasing in the train station on the day. Tickets can only be purchased within 28 days of journey date. I would recommend taking one of the early afternoon trains as the later departing trains can be very crowded as many people depart Dublin city for the weekend.

The vast majority of our tour participants like to get to the start location (Bunratty) the evening before the tour starts. To facilitate this we will be available to run transfers on Friday from Shannon airport or Limerick train station.
If you wish I can also reserve your accommodation for Friday in The Courtyard, Bunratty. You will also stay there on the first night of the tour so you enjoy a very civilized start to proceedings on Saturday morning.

I'll get some of the bike sizing and fitting sorted on Friday leaving you with more time for cycling on the first day of your tour.
